Oh My Goddess 15

Since I was reading Fruits Basket, I of course naturally turned toward my pile of Oh My Goddess I have backlogged afterwards. Such a good story, and it’s a shame I’m so far behind with the volumes sitting on my shelf.

I had high hopes for this volume since I knew we’d finally get to see Urd’s Angel World of Elegance in action. That plot was not as epic as I would have liked, sadly… but it was the charming slice-of-life story the series is known for (or known for by me, anyway). That’s all this volume was, nothing epic at all. The first story with Megumi and Sayoko (??? didn’t really look like her and they never mentioned her name, but they did call her Queen) was a bit boring, but charming all the same. The last story was almost epic, and I think it really wanted to be, but alas, it just ended up being a sweet story about Belldandy being drunk and getting her and Keiichi’s hands stuck together that had a really warm ending. Plus there was a really cute plot about Banpei falling in love that didn’t really have anything to do with anything, but it was charming all the same.

Overall a kind of lukewarm, unexciting volume with no epic storylines that made me want to tear through it. It wasn’t nearly as boring as the Sayoko storyline from last volume, but still… no plot. He even spoiled plot fodder with having a relatively uneventful unveiling of World of Elegance. Still, I love this series for tugging at the heartstrings in a way no other can.
