Oh My Goddess 18
Posted: February 25, 2006 Filed under: Oh My Goddess! Leave a comment »I really, REALLY liked that story about the Phantom Racer, and I’m not even particularly sure why. I can usually take or leave Megumi, and lately I tend to leave her since she’s just not around much and I feel like I don’t know her as well… and this story featured an awful lot of hubris on her part, but I did like her here. Maybe I’ll going back to taking her for awhile. I LOVED the race between it and Belldandy/Keiichi, and I also really liked the resolution, even though it was a typical, sappy OMG! ending. Maybe because it involved Chihiro, and I do really like Chihiro.
The second story arc dealt with Dr. Moreau and his obsession with the walking robot, which is obsolete since apparently robots can also do backflips and swim around in giant tanks of robot dolphins now. Anyway, I hate the personality Skuld’s robot has, and I think it’s sad she automatically rejects Banpei. I’ve always liked Banpei. Of course, rejection is not the end of the story, and this one has a feelgood ending too, but Banpei gets to be the hero, and I liked that an awful lot. Can’t say that I agree with “Sigel,” but such is life.
But yes, a good volume all around. Hooray!
