+Anima 1

What a stupid name. Even worse is that it’s apparently a singular word that is used quite frequently throughout the series. How do you read that? Anima? Plus Anima? De Anima?
But yes. I haven’t read a pure fantasy series like this one in a long time, and this one is very good. It follows rather young children around (11 year olds, I think), and the main character is sort of the draw for me. Cooro, the crow Anima, is extremely nice and complacent, but he’s also crafty and exerts a will of his own. But he’s not sly or overbearing about anything he does, just always extremely nice. I like him and Husky, the mermaid, the best. The characters are a strong part of why I liked it so much, but I also sort of liked the fanciful scenarios. It reminded me a lot of the lighter stories in Fullmetal Alchemist, except this really doesn’t have a plot as of yet.
I don’t usually go in for fantasy, but I really like the idea of the human/animal hybrids here, and the characters are all really likable, and I like the stories in each chapter… it’s just really good, so far. Took me forever to find it, my regular Borders isn’t stocking it for some reason. A shame I’ll have to wait so long for the next volume.

+Anima is indeed one of my favorite manga besides Black Cat because no one I know really reads it so I kind of feel original. With that I’d say it’s # 2 on my list. When I asked a group of people if they had ever read +Anima, only 1 person raised their hand, and it turned out that person was being a retard and had actually never heard of it.
I find +Anima surprisingly sweet. Most people I dragged into reading the series liked Senri the most. I’d have to say Nana is my favorite because… that’s my nickname. XD Also, she reminds me of any little girl; she wants to be rich and demands special treatment (though she has to do exactly what the boys do). I do enjoy all of the characters. Sadly, I can’t draw Husky whatsoever, and that makes me sad.

Cooro is probably my favorite, and I always feel bad admitting the main character is a favorite since things are engineered that way. I do think this series is really overlooked, but it seems like there’s a pretty nice core of readers that speak up about it.

+Anima is pretty good, but I don’t have any fav characters… but I joined the group on Live Journal so now I can chat about my +Anima obsession to my hearts content!!
P.S Husky’s a merman! :P

You’re right, I forgot mermaids are only girls. And this is even after reading Moon Child, which is extremely merpeople-centric.

I simply love this manga. It’s so cute I just want to run and hug someone lol. The main characters so far are so chibi like its adorable. Husky is interesting but who I like the most is Senri and Cooro. I was kinda confused on Husky’s gender at first. For some reason I was thinking that when he got into the water he changed into a girl but after he got out he changed into a boy. But after reading the other volumes, I figured out he was a boy.
I like Senri so much cause he’s so mysterious. (Actually I like any character that relates to Sesshomaru -my all time favorite male character EVER- and since Senri is so mysterious like Shessomaru…I like him. Haha weird really.) I also like Cooro cause he’s so carefree and optimistic.

How much of the series have you read? I think the last volume I read finally got into Senri’s background, but it takes awhile, and Cooro’s background is still a mystery. I still like this series a lot, too… I have volume 7, maybe I’ll read it tonight.

Yea? I’ve passed you I think…I read to the part past Senri’s background. I’m at the part where they are getting into Husky’s background. They travel to a city past the mountains to find Husky’s mother.

Yeah, I just got to that part in volume… 7, I think is the one I just read. This is a much longer and more developed story than usual, I really like it.
