Video Girl Ai 13
Posted: February 17, 2007 Filed under: Video Girl Ai 4 Comments »So here’s the end of the main story. The last two volumes deal with unrelated characters. No more Yota, Ai, Moemi, Takashi, or Nobuko. Ever. They all came back for this volume. Even Nobuko, who we haven’t seen in forever. She’s got a slightly different haircut now that Moemi looks like her.
I wasn’t entirely clear on what Roleck’s plan was in the end, and I think it was kind of silly to cram all that into the last volume, but it didn’t feel rushed or even like it was unexplained. I have a feeling his plan was exactly what happened, but I was really confused as to the process that went behind it and how it was stopped, how the last thing that happened actually happened, things like that.
But the ending made me cry despite my boredom with the later volumes of this series. I’m glad what happened did happened. I still like it an awful lot too, and it’s probably the best shounen romance I’ve read. I’ve still got two volumes left technically, so let’s see how those go.

I have to agree. Even though I’m a guy, the ending made even me break down and cry. As you read the final chapters, you think that Ai will be gone forever. Then, in the final chapter, just as everyone’s feelings become organized and Yuta gets everything in order and finishes the book, the old mans plans finally pan out, and Ai becomes a real human, meaning that she and Yuta can share the rest of their lives together in the happy ending they both deserved.
Even years after reading it, I still think the ending to this series is very sweet. It’s probably still one of my favorite shounen romance manga. It just does everything right.
Yeah, I first read Video Girl Ai bout 4-5 years back and I loved it, fell in love with all the characters, especially Ai. I’m glad it ended the way it did, with Youta and Ai reuniting, as it would have been too sad if she had been lost foreverI just sped-read through this again in two days, and it was a good refresher for a manga series that touched my heart forever….and I’m a guy haha, now if only I could find the Gokuraku store……
