W Juliet 4

I think I like it a lot more when the characters stick to their specific gender roles.  Perhaps this is because it’s a treat in this series.  Manly Mako really does it for me, and I like girly Ito a lot too.

I was RIGHT about payoff in this series, too.  I was expecting to have to wait a couple more volumes for what we got, but it was unexpected in this volume and just kind of snuck up on me.  That’s what I call fanservice!  Unfortunately, there are still a lot of plots that try to drive Mako and Ito apart.  Fortunately they don’t work at all anymore, but plots involving Toki are getting kind of boring.

We learn a lot about the family lives of both the main characters this time around, which was also good.  I especially liked the descriptions of their siblings, both families were full of rather energetic and protective siblings of the opposite gender.

Also, we get the seeds for an elope.  You know how AWESOME it would be if that happened eventually? I was so shocked when that came up.  Yeah, this series is doing it for me pretty well now, and has surpassed my expectations for a mediocre shoujo series.  Or I’m just a sucker for this type of thing, you be the judge.
