Bride of Deimos 7
March 22, 2007
So, yes, the end. The series recently started running in Mystery Bonita again, but when it ended the first time, the only way people knew was because there was a note in the last bunko edition that said it was the end. This tells you the plot never moves forward, EVER. Also, the mythology used makes my head hurt. I assume we’re using the Roman system since we’re talking about Jupiter and Venus. Deimos is a Greek God though, his Roman name would apparently be Metus. In either case, there wouldn’t be brother/sister incest with Venus and Deimos’ relationship.. Deimos is the son of Aphrodite, the Greek equivalent of Venus, so the relationship is still incestuous. I think the author just threw together some cool-sounding names.
With that off my chest, let me tell you about some of the cool stories in here. We do get minimal plot, as Deimos decides he’s sick of waiting around for Minako to return his love and is just going to kill her for Venus. This doesn’t change things much, as he still drags his feet about killing her.
This time around we get a girl who tries to convince a scientist to release a snake, and even goes as far as promising to marry him as long as he lets it go. This one’s pretty twisted even in Bride of Deimos terms, because there’s this society of female snakes that relied on that snake being set free. It was pretty bizarre.
There was also a really cool story about a puppet that came to life and had a lip hook that it destroyed various things with. Also, another story featured only Venus ruining relationships, no Deimos or Minako at all. Unfortunately, the last story in the volume also doesn’t feature Deimos or Minako that prominently, but all the same it featured a cranky old woman, so I was okay with that too.
Now, sadly, the series is over.

The series doesn’t end at 7. There are 17 volumes to the series but Comics One went out of business before they could publish all 17.

Yeah, I know, it’s actually kind of weird I didn’t bring that up. I went out and got the bunko versions of the end of the series when I finished up with these. They’re more of the same, but they’re still fabulous.

i really like Demos,
A part of his devilish keep an angelic side that is touching in certain way. I read Demos since 10 years ago, i’ve finished them all as far as i know series 17. But i like to read it again and again and again. It’s very interestinga as every series has a great mystery story.

Yeah, it really is one of my favorites. Deimos’s nice side was probably the thing I liked about it best, as it always felt good to see him helping Minako like he always did.
It recently started running again in Japan, so new volumes will be coming out. Hopefully they’ll give the series a proper ending this time, it’ll be so great to find out what happens in the end.

Unfortunately, there aren’t any websites that I can find that talk about the rest of the series or even any scanslations, which I would have been on in a second since it doesn’t look like we’ll be getting the rest in English.
The series goes on pretty much in the same way, with the horror stories and the characters pretty much sticking to the same roles throughout (I’ve got three volumes of the bunko version, but I have a hard time following the story in a lot of places, plus there’s still a gap from where I stopped in English and started with these, so I could still be off base with my assessment). Apparently, the only reason people knew it was over in Japan was because there was a note in volume 17 that said the series would end. It started up again a couple months ago though, as I mentioned earlier, so hooray for that. Here’s hoping there’s a bit of a resolution (though I’m not really voting for Minako’s death, either).
