Dokebi Bride 2
Posted: March 27, 2007 Filed under: Dokebi Bride 9 Comments »I was kind of mad when Sunbi continued to be a jerk to everyone at school even though they weren’t going to chastise her about her mother. She COULD make friends, like young Sunbi wants, but I guess she just doesn’t want them. Or has better things to worry about, like being possessed by a maggot-eaten demon that only she can see and is sitting in her chair at school.
This one didn’t have granny in it except for a second (and I nearly cried when I saw her), and I liked it a bit less, and I still don’t know how I feel about the plot, and I don’t really like the main character, but it’s so engaging. I really like that the main theme seems to be this gap between the spiritual and the scientific, where most people don’t believe in spirits, but Sunbi is tortured and plagued by them since they are all too real. Also strange is that all the good spirits are fading away because they are no longer believed in, whereas the evil ones seem to be sticking around. Hm.
Still good. I’ve got 3 and 4 on their way, so that’s good news.
Stay with the series its well worth it!Even tough youll think Sunbi is such a b***ch in the beginning of vol 4…but in the end she wins you over…I am so looking forward to vol 5!
I’ve only ever heard good things about the series, and it really is wonderful. There are a few things that really rub me the wrong way for whatever reason, but there’s just something about it that makes me want to read more and more. Despite the fact I dislike Sunbi, I can’t help but be sucked into the story.
yes.the plot makes up for the art(wich looks fine but not pretty) and its way better than “The antique gift shop” wich is a manwha trying to be all that dokebi bride is (the subject being shamans) and wanting to be like Petshop of horrors….and failing…

Haha, I’ve been trying to get into another ICE Kunion series for awhile (just because I like so much of the manhwa published by Netcomics), and… I always hear bad things or the plots don’t sound that interesting to me. I DO need to pick up Pet Shop of Horrors though. I’m not sure how it is I’ve passed on that one for so long.
Well I recommend it…even tough it has a bittersweet ending….but that is quickly cured with reading “New Petshop of horrors” wich is sadly only aviable as scanslation…>
I forgot about New Petshop of Horrors. Tokyopop will almost certainly license it. They’ll probably either reprint or rerelease the old series when they do, too. That’s probably when I’ll pick it up. That’s a big assumption to make, but I bet it’ll happen ^_^;
And lo, you were right!
Gasp! I forgot I said that! I wonder if they will reprint the first Pet Shop of Horrors series in preparation for the new one now, though. I’ll be bummed if they do, because I picked up the first five volumes right before they announced the new series ^_^;
