Sgt. Frog 7

I haven’t read this series in FOREVER.  I didn’t like volume 6 too much except the chapter at the end where everyone forgets about the aliens and can’t figure out what is missing from their life.  That story is briefly included in this volume at the first chapter, but it has about the outcome you’d expect.  Quiet, reflective chapters like this do wonders for the story though.  I kind of like it.

Of course, we finally get Dororo too, which I like.  I couldn’t figure out why his name changed from Zeroro, but whatever.  Also slightly unsettling is that Kururu seems to have gone back to Kululu for some reason.  Or maybe that’s just my imagination and he’s always been Kululu.  At any rate, Dororo’s first scheme to take over the world is quite cute, and I liked that one a lot too for the quiet, understated nature of the takeover.

There were quite a few moments in this volume I enjoyed  quite a bit.  Kururu does make quite a few appearances, though he’s still pretty much confined to the background.  Keroro gets a few chapters where he takes his mission seriously, though one of those is out of spite.  The takeovers are actually pretty realistic this time around.  Theoretically, they could work.

But yes, I liked this volume a lot.  At this point, I think I can safely say this series is hit-or-miss for me, because I really like some volumes and really dislike others.  I like the series in theory though, so I’ll probably keep reading for that reason.
