I was less familiar with BL when I read this volume, but I can see what you mean about it being more of a one-shot story than a series. All the hubbub about the license getting picked back up has piqued my interest again, so I think I'm going to crack open volumes 2 and 3 this week and see how I like it with a few years and a lot more yaoi under my belt now.

I agree with Ying Tao. The volume 1 is more like an introduction (in a porn way of course, it's hardcore, remember XD). Well sensei said it should be an S&M one shot(s) that's why she wrote it less plot. She didn't think it will become really popular like this

But after its on Naked Truth arc, the plot is more interesting. I was one of the people who hate it at first because of chapter one. I was really really hate it. But when I was reading naked truth, I began wanted to read and read again.

Excellent, thanks for letting me know! Actually, I bought all three Finder Series volumes available in English all at once, but the first volume sort of scared me off the rest of them, and I hadn't been inclined to try her other series after disliking that volume so much. She is quite popular, so I may as well give the other two volumes of this series a try just to see if I like Yamane's plots. I forgot I had this one, actually!

Aha! Well, being one of Yamane-sensei's fans myself, I have to admit the first volume to this series was truly just porn, straight out ;; There's less plot than Yamane-sensei's oneshots V.V;;

However, the main plot does get more intense starting with volume 3. Volume 1 is incredibly misleading ;; In fact, it's more like an introduction to the characters maybe? Volume 2 is a spin into the past, building background and setting the stage for 'Naked Truth' plot, which runs from volume 3 to volume 5, I believe.

Yamane-sensei's Crimson Spell is less focused on porn ;; It still has a good dosage of sex, but the plot moves forward more quickly xD;; Either way, both are amazingly popular among hardcore yaoi fans!

No, I'm not selling mine. They're tricky to get since the company that printed them sort of went out of business and didn't really have a good way of distributing them. I don't think they can be had at the moment for very cheap, but I've heard that there's rumors of another company that's going to publish it, so it's likely it will be reprinted and become available again some time very soon.

Thanks for that. I don't usually read hardcore BL, so I wondered if maybe this was all it had to be since Finder was so popular. I kind of leaned towards the kind side when evaluating it since I thought maybe it just wasn't my thing, but the plot was pretty terrible, even in the short stories which don't have to have any sort of continuity or character development.

Finder is a bad manga, whether you like hardcore BL or not. Its popularity confuses me to no end. The mangaka, Yamane Ayano, is actually a really talented lady and is known for both her beautiful art and her surprisingly quirky stories, so why this is her most famous work... *shakes head* She has an anime coming out soon (Ikoku) and it's based off one of her better works--a very funny story about a yakuza heir and an Italian sailor. There's less sex in that one, too. Write Finder off--whether you like porn or not, the manga is just BAD. She probably wishes this weren't the manga that defined her in the States.
