Law of Ueki 5

While I can understand people not reading Tsukihime, there’s really no reason everyone shouldn’t be reading this series. It would destroy me if this series slipped in popularity enough to go quarterly for both the reasons that kind of move would imply.
The battles with King Candidates kind of slow down in this volume when Ueki joins Robert’s 10. In a total Monkey D. Luffy moment, you believe that he’s joining for the wrong reasons until you realize that he’s trying to take everything down from the inside by himself. The only actual battle that takes place is between Luffy Ueki and one of the other members of Robert’s 10. He wins, but only because of what most of this volume is about.
We get to meet Ueki’s father and sister briefly, and then Mr. K gets to meet Ueki’s father too, in the underworld. Some things are explained that trouble Mr. K, and then Mr. K sends a beligerent beast above to help Ueki tap into his… phenomonal cosmic powers.
We also get the beginnings of a battle at the end of the volume, and Ueki also gets slapped around quite a bit. Plus, Margaret is totally a man. Not only do we get lots of action, character development, and continuous inventive things from the plot, we also get a really great sense of humor. I LOVE THIS SERIES. I always think I’m not going to like the next volume as much, but I always do.
