Dragon Ball 20

Unfortunately, I can’t recall which of the two volumes I read (20 and 21, or Z 4-5) covers the end of the Vegeta battle and which covers the beginning of the Namek trip.  I’ll divide the two equally and just talk about the battle here, and just talk about Namek for 21.

I wanna say lots of unexpected stuff happens, but I’ve seen this much of the anime, so I unfortunately couldn’t get too fired up about this battle… especially since nothing too exciting happens.  Goku and Vegeta just power up a lot, most of both of their ultimate techniques fail, and Vegeta is beaten badly enough to retreat (which I don’t think is too much of a spoiler considering I believe this section of Z is probably known by just about everyone on Earth at this point, plus… this is just what happens to every villian up to this point).  Kuririn and Gohan come back to help, and some funny business goes on with Gohan that winds up being the climax of the battle, but I kind of wish that aspect of the Saiyan race would either be available to all the Saiyans or just not available at all.

Anyway.  Since the Dragon Balls are no good anymore, everyone’s looking for a way to get to Namek to use the Dragon Balls there to wish everyone back to life.  Let’s see how this plays out over the next several volumes.
