Death Note 12

Memorable scenes to add to previous entry: the two page spread where Light owns up, and his final two pages.
My roommate and I were having the discussion of the merits of having a two-page spread as two solid black pages when the technique was used in the most recent volume of Dragon Head. But I don’t want to geek this post up too much. I want to pout and cry in the corner. I wish I had something to read that would push this entry off the top of the page.
I felt exactly like that for weeks after I had finished the series. I was literally shakeing
I was pretty mad. I was hoping for a win for my team, I was so sad when he was brought down.
Even if every other volume had been complete dribble, even if this story were uninteresting and bland, even if it hurt my eyes to read it, everything would have been worth it to read this last volume. It was so edge-of-the-seat, emotionally-invested, chewing-on-your-fingernails type stand off. I was making a scene in the bookstore, I’m sure.
I didn’t really like Light after the first couple volumes, so I was happy with the outcome. Unlike you, this is the series I would probably use to turn people *on* to manga. Despite the lack of physical actions scenes.
Oh no, don’t get me wrong, I was just pouting because I didn’t get the outcome I wanted. The ending to Death Note is one of the best endings to any manga I’ve ever read, even if I didn’t personally like the way things wound up. I flew through it, almost skipping words and minor reactions and stuff in order to take in as much as possible all at once. It was astounding.
Also, yes, Death Note is totally a gateway series, and I would have no qualms about giving it to someone who doesn’t read manga. I’m still shocked it ran in Shounen Jump, which is one of the most manga of the manga magazines.
I loved the end of it!
But then again I was a L fan…still one of the best endings ever with some great stuff even if the series got a little slow it still was a great one!
Same here.
While I liked the ending per se, I was actually rooting for Light to win. Aww… he was just so cunning and manipulative and to see how he fared in the end of the series is so heart-wrenching.
Thank you. This makes me feel slightly less evil, actually.
Man, it’s been a couple years since I read this, and I still think Light should have won.
I actually spoiled this one for myself by accidentally looking up the movie on wikipedia and finding out Light dies, and I actually am kind of glad I did….I liked this series a lot right up until then, and couldn’t bring myself to finish it.
Haha, I was pretty proud of myself for not spoiling it before I got to the end (I’m actually pretty horrible at looking up the plots of manga I like), but I was so furious when that happened. Looking back, I probably should have expected it since Light was so deranged he wouldn’t be allowed to live in a just world… but I couldn’t help but agree with and admire everything he did. I just automatically assumed he would win since he’s the hero of the story and all.
Honestly… I probably wouldn’t have touched the final volume for quite a long time if I had found out his fate in advance.
