Saint Seiya 7

My moment of zen appears within the first few pages here.  Someone is decapitated, then their headless body gets up and continues the fight for them.  Just in case things weren’t awesome enough for you.

We get the end of the fight to reclaim Princess Sienna, and thankfully all the main characters get in on beating these Silver Knights.  They wind up winning for awhile, until one of the Silver Knights unveils a very ancient trick that he had up his sleeve.  Shin has to willingly take drastic measures to win one for the team.  Later, it’s mentioned that all the other characters were saved from what appeared to be a death spell cast on them by his win.  It’s not really explained how or why this works.  It just does.

Most of this volume is a fight between Seiya and one of the Gold Knights.  This fight is actually quite hilarious, since the two discuss at length some of the mechanics and physics in this series.  Since a Gold Knight can move at about the speed of light, there’s no way that a Bronze Knight, who’s fists move at about mach 1, can ever hope to beat him.  More backstory and history for the series is revealed, which is nice.

Kuromada mentions that the “such-and-such a series will not be appearing in this week’s issue due to so-and-so’s illness” is the message that runs when you miss your deadline for any reason, not necessarily because you’re sick.  This makes me feel better, because I thought there were some Shounen Jump mangaka that have been very sick over the years.
