Posted: December 24, 2007 Filed under: Iron Wok Jan Leave a comment »I actually reread this volume when I was flipping through to remember the plot points, even though I’ve read it less than a week ago. Then I went back and completely reread volume one. Then I reread most of volumes 2 and 3 too. Good thing I have 5-10 coming in the mail tomorrow, because I’d just have to keep reading the first four over and over again.
This is just the first half of the final battle in the cooking competition. All three of the characters (Jan, Kiriko, and the Kobe girl) have totally different approaches, all are amazing. Jan whips out a valuable skill which apparently only he can do out of every other chef in the country. Kiriko carves a huge ice sculpture.
Not everything goes Jan’s way though, and he does go on a berserk rampage near the end of the volume. It’s nice to see him brought down every once in awhile. I do wonder how he’ll recover to win the competition and settle the bet with Kiriko, though.
