HOLY SHIT.
There’s really only one thing I can say about this volume of Nana.
HOLY SHIT.
I also updated the Friday Feature on spine art from a couple weeks back. Somehow I forgot to include Princess Knight, so I've fixed my oversight.
And speaking of Tezuka, perhaps you would like to help fund the making of the English translation of Barbara? See DMP's Kickstarter page for details. I'm pretty excited about the implications of successful drives like this. This one was funded in a little over 24 hours, and the one DMP did before this to fun the reprinting of Swallowing the Earth was also successful. I'm looking forward to seeing what other marginal projects might benefit from this type of project.
You can do searches for things like authors, publishers, and keywords now. It help to put your search in quotations, since a search for Kaori Yuki will also return series for Kaori Yanagida, Kaori Ozaki, Yuki Nakaji, and Yuki Obata, but "Kaori Yuki" will only return reviews where I talk about her and her series.
Also, clicking on a series name in a post will, for some reason, take you to a page with every single post on that subject on wordpress.com. To see other reviews on Slightly Biased Manga, use the series links in the sidebar.
That’s exactly what I thought…That and the facial expressions throughout the story are just SO real!
Lastly, I almost cried on Nana’s flashbacks with her mom…
Yeah, Ai Yazawa does the best facial expressions. Her characters really get across a variety of subtle emotion that would be beaten into you with dialogue in any other series. The look at the different interpretations of mothers was quite good too, I will agree. There was a lot to read into what happened.
Yup! Ai Yazawa rules! I also like the first Nana live action movie and the soundtrack is very good to listen to when reading this manga! ^_^
This was a truly amazing volume. I almost started to read the next one, but seeing Nana and “him” sleeping together was just too much and I had to shelve it for a while. My review of 8 is here.
I think I’ve still got to read whatever the newest volume is (11 or 12, I’m kind of bad with numbers), but it’s so hard to read any part with him in it. Either of the hims, really, for different reasons.
As much as I dislike him, I still think “he” is one of the few manga guys I’d honestly call sexy.
