Skip Beat 12

May 22, 2008

Seriously, this series gets a girly reaction out of me like no other. The entire middle part of this volume is a long scene between Ren and Kyoko, and really… the entire volume is just one big romantic moment between the two. But in that romantic moment is one of the best shoujo romance scenes… ever.

They kept alluding to the end of last volume, and I just for the life of me could not remember what happened initially. It was the TV interview about the couple with the age difference that both Kyoko and Ren shared their views on. Ren was the one that wound up taking the conversation to heart, and we get an entire volume of beautiful aftermath.

It’s sort of the reverse of every other shoujo manga I’ve read, really, and I love it.

EDIT: I feel like I should also mention that we still don’t get to see the end of the Dark Moon drama story, but I can’t say I can complain much about that.

I’d been trying to kind of parcel out my Skip Beat! and not devour it all at once. I’m just about to start volume 7. But with such a rave review, I might have to gobble up all the rest of it!

The more and more I hear about this series, the more and more I want to read it. XD

Did you hear? Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure sales are being temporarily halted in Japan! o_O

It took me a long time to pick it up after hearing all sorts of praise for it, but it was definitely worth it. Plus, since I waited so long, there were several volumes in a row to read ^_^

I did not hear that about Jojo… I’m looking at it now. I’m a little bummed I wasn’t a little quicker in acquiring the Japanese volumes, I’ve only got the first seven or so. I’m glad to hear there wasn’t really anything they know of yet that they would omit in the manga, though.

Jun – 6 was probably my favorite volume, I knew I was set for the long run after that one. The two I just read are just sort of more of the same thing between Ren and Kyoko, except in smaller doses. I love it.

Well, I ended up gobbling up the rest of it. I read 8-12 in the course of this weekend. The last 4 today. Reviews up at my site. :)

Some of your reactions are so funny! I’m skimming through the entries now, I’ll probably read and comment on them while I’m at work tomorrow. It looks like we had a lot of the same reactions to it ^_^

Yay for finding them funny! :)
