I’m actually pretty surprised they called off Beck, I heard that was supposed to be excellent. There will definitely be a few things I’ll miss, though, and I’m still holding my breath on a couple middle-of-the-road series that are within a volume or two of finishing.

I didn’t actually finish Evangelion, but I can definitely imagine a situation where things are set aside in favor of a deep discussion.

They’ve just killed Beck (I highly doubt that Kodansha is going to re-animate this book), and once Shonan Junai Gumi is gone, aside from the Full Metal Panic light novels, I will be buying nothing from Tokyopop. Not that I hate their brand, they just don’t publish books that I’m interested in.
Dragon Head was the last great book Tokyopop published, and they wanted to kill it early by selling it exclusively online, so that’s two bullets we’ve dodged.
The ending of Dragon Head was good enough but it reminded me of the conclusion to the anime Neon Genisis Evangelion, where the meat and potatoes of the story were shafted to express some philosophical ideal of the human soul. But, in the end, any conclution to this book is a great one.
