Nana 14

December 16, 2008

Hooray, now I’m caught up on Nana!  This was sort of an oddball rare volume where there really wasn’t too much drama going on.  Takumi decides to celebrate his and Hachi’s non-wedding by staying at home with her all day, and the two lead a pretty cute domestic life.  Plus, Hachi realizes some of the things she dislikes about Takumi balance out her weaknesses, so she sort of makes herself a little more happy about that.  There are other things we see about Takumi, things I didn’t really want to believe since he was being such a good boy… but I think the drama in those things will be left for later.

Similarly, Blast seems pretty happy on the road.  They’ve got lots of fans, and the biggest points of contention, Nobu’s relationship with Hachi and Shin’s relationship with Reira, are left behind.  There’s some minor trouble stirred up, especially between Yasu and Nana, but… well, the heavy stuff doesn’t come until the end of the volume.  I like that the road shows are displayed as such a pleasure.  It strikes me as the type of thing they really should be having fun doing.  It’s their dream, after all, and it’s pretty cool to be touring with your band like that and have so many fans.

Let’s see… the most drama was courtesy of Ren, I think, and probably only because he did something rather shocking.  He was actually kind of drama-free too, but he was caught at doing something innocent, which is kind of a bummer.  Hopefully nothing will come of it, but this doesn’t seem very likely.

What else…?  One of the old characters comes back.  I’m okay with that, I think.  I didn’t really like her before, but maybe I’ll like her in her brand new role.

I like light volumes like this.  I hope I get to see a drama-free volume with just Nana and Hachi hanging out and having fun together, but something tells me that I may not get my wish anytime soon.  But here’s hoping!
