Basara 6

Oh dear.  I can’t say I approve of the things Asagi is doing here.  It seems like it would be in everybody’s best interest to give him the heave-ho, but it seems like only Tatara realizes what he’s doing at first, and then everyone forgets he’s around once this business with Tatara’s mother starts.

I was so sad that there were no Shuri/Sarasa parts in this volume.  Well, there was a brief letter exchange.  Asagi has figured out what is going on, which I have to admit is kind of awesome and holds lots of possibilities.  I can’t say I’m entirely clear where his letter sabotage comes into play, though.  It was only mentioned briefly this time, so I’m guessing more will come of it next volume.

Hmm.  And things are starting to develop between the general and Tatara’s mother.  I will be very interested to see where that goes.  For sure.

When I first read the scene where Asagi makes the discovery, I thought “No! Don’t sabotage their relationship!” Now, I think “Yes, sabotage their relationship.” Though Asagi is not the ultimate cause of what is bound to happen. He just makes it more spectacular. As a spectator, I appreciate that.

Sarasa and Shuri don’t see each other again for a few volumes. In the mean time bad stuff happens to both of them, which makes their reunion more poignant.

Volume 7 is my least favorite Basara volume. I’m not sure why, and when I re-read it I try to understand why I like it so much less than the rest of Basara.

Volume 7 seemed like it was mostly transition. I imagine there is no shortage of transition volumes in Basara, but there seemed less to this one than usual. Though I have to admit, I do kind of like Nachi.
