The Eroicaverse: Happy Holidays
Posted: December 24, 2011 Filed under: Eroicaverse 7 Comments »This is my week for an Eroica post, but unfortunately the further adventures of The Man in Purple will have to wait, as I have no scanner nor access to my volumes of El Halcon. Instead, please enjoy some seasonal scarf yanking. Well, mostly scarves.
And let’s see… isn’t there another mistletoe/New Year’s tradition we’re forgetting? This is a girls’ comic, and a very long and old one at that, so there certainly should be some of that around somewhere.
Ah, there we go. But can we do better than that?
That’s more like it.
So, from Eroica, with love…
As a bonus, the January issue of Princess Gold had a 35th anniversary celebration for From Eroica With Love. There’s a lengthy story in the issue (a surreal party with Eroica, Volvolante, the Director, and the Major), but the real fun is on the cover.

Awww!! Merry Christmas, Connie :D I love this special edition of your Eroica series—seeing scene after scene of the Major shouting in Eroica’s face is even funnier than encountering them on their own. And that panel of the Major humming to himself (?!) in the middle of everything is especially odd and amusing in this context. Thanks for sharing, and hope your holidays are happy!!
Thanks! I’m glad you liked it. Re-reading the series to hunt all those down was a pleasure, but it was hard since the story kept sucking me in and I’d forget I was looking for those. Hope you have a Merry Christmas, too!
I’d do anything for copies of this series, but it is unfortunately out of print. *sob*
Holy crap, I know that CMX has been out for almost a year and a half, but I wasn’t expecting the prices on Eroica to creep up like that. It seems to be well-regarded online, but it seemed like that never actually translated into real sales. I checked for a long time to see when the first copies would run out of stock, and it never happened. I’m a little shocked that every single volume is gone now.
I hold onto ridiculous hope that this one will be license rescued, partially because I love it like nobody’s business and partially because it does seem like such a cult hit. The fact that all the volumes sold out… uh, hopefully bodes well for its popularity. Even though I know that isn’t remotely true.
What a lovely collection! The Major certainly loves to do some pulling and shouting doesn’t he just? Thanks for putting all those together, they were great to see :-)

This will come out of nowhere, but I’d really like to see Aoike Yasuko’s ‘prequel’-like series, Sons of Eve, scanned out volumes out there. Do you have access to this work? I’ve looking for scans of it online. (Yes, I’ve read your review on it) Could you scan it please, post it somewhere? Really like to see Aoike’s old comedic fluff.
