Drifting Classrooms 1

I’m kind of at a loss for this series. It’s another psychological horror series from Kazuo Umezu, and it’s pretty awesome. It’s also kind of brutal in some ways, but it’s hard to talk about because it’s extremely cohesive and has a touch of the Dragon Head to it, so since everything’s only just been introduced, it feels like something has to happen in order for me to talk about it. But I will anyway.

It’s really disturbing that this little kid, who was only trying to do a good thing, got into such a fight with his mom and then disappeared off the face of the earth. How upsetting for both of them, really. That was my main concern with this series, along with mildly disturbing elements like a teacher stabbing a little boy with broken glass as an example of what would happen if the kids started crying. Plus, so far, the two deaths have also been extremely unsettling.

I think that may be all I have. Having the school just disappear into an alternate dimension is such a weird thing, and it is a lot like Dragon Head in that it shows the reactions of all the people being cut off from society. But somehow, this one’s a bit less intense and a bit more disturbing than Dragon Head. Maybe because it involves little kids who keep crying for their moms. I don’t know. But it is extremely upsetting.
